Two men separated by 100 years are united in their search for freedom. In 1856 a slave, Samuel Woodward and his family, escape from the Monroe Plantation near Richmond, Virginia. A secret network of ordinary people known as the Underground Railroad guide the family on their journey north to Canada. They are relentlessly pursued by the notorious slave hunter Plimpton. Hunted like a dog and haunted by the unthinkable suffering he and his forbears have endured, Samuel is forced to decide between revenge or freedom. 100 years earlier in 1748, John Newton the Captain of a slave trader sails from Africa with a cargo of slaves, bound for America. On board is Samuel’s great grandfather whose survival is tied to the fate of Captain Newton. The voyage changes Newton’s life forever and he creates a legacy that will inspire Samuel and the lives of millions for generations to come.

“A Supernatural and organic transformative journey – entertaining and enriching. This is from the same film producer as ‘The Islands’ which hit theaters nationwide last month (Dec 6, 2019).

Anyway, I love this film so much–from the point of view of a zealous moviegoer and as a student of screen writing. I’m going to watch it again and again.

Like a good detective movie, we follow the main actors disbelief but openness to search for the truth of both stories. But what makes this movie stand out for me was the acting and music. The quality and intensity of the actors make this movie one that should not be missed. I recommend this movie to everyone. Especially the singer turned actor Jubiliant Sykes.

Historical fiction bible based stories are challenging and difficult to master, and FREEDOM has shown that it can be done. Clearly there’s expertise and heart in the making and writing of this film. Go and watch it with faith…

“Timothy Chey did a good job producing and writing this movie, and it’s an epic story that flows really well. I just saw his current film ‘The Islands’ in the theaters right now. It’s also really good.

This is one of those movies that will last through the ages because it’s always going to be relevant. The acting in this movie is really stellar. This isn’t a movie that you can sit down and watch over and over and over again, however every once in a while it is a great movie to just sit down and enjoy.

“Very well made. Great action. Very Heart pounding. This is similar to ‘The Islands’. I have to start by saying that it’s a shame this film hasn’t got the acclaim that it deserves. Why? Because it is a film that it has to do with the Christian religion and generally in today’s society these kind of films aren’t politically correct, if you know what i mean. I am a Christian Orthodox myself and i have to say that this movie ”touched” me and moved me. There is also an evident respect by trying to tell the story in a very honest way and not to add any unnecessary visual effects, just to make it extremely dramatic. Again Cuba Gooding, Jr is excellent and he should be very proud of his performance. That is an Oscar winning performance in any other film, but as i have said because it is a religious film it hasn’t got him the praise that he should got. Overall an excellent film, that for those who have read and know the facts, will in my opinion be a classic.” Written by ilovejesus-52019 on

“Amazing soundtrack and heart-wrenching story. Characters are artfully developed and flashbacks well-coordinated. While difficult to consider this period of our country’s history, remembering challenges us to combat injustice around the world today.” Written by soulstarclear on
