In Black America, children are often raised in run-down areas, surrounded by crime. Local schools are underfunded and do not give students the skills to break the cycle of drugs-violence-jail. But the community is now finding its own solutions to this education crisis. In Philadelphia, high school dropout Steven Stewart is getting a second chance to graduate through YESPhilly, an alternative high school. He also learns to responsibly handle guns through Black Guns Matter, an organisation bringing Second Amendment rights to African Americans. Meanwhile, New York high school students acquire useful legal and media skills as they stage Black Lives Matter protests.
