Con men are tricksters who use techniques of deception to trick people into parting with their money. Their stories often involve the use of various techniques of influence, where they apply psychological pressure on their victims in order to get them to do something — usually give up their money. Regardless of the tricks con men use, they are always careful not to cross the line and make it illegal.
There are also two different types of con men: street con artists (also known as grifters) and confidence tricksters. One major difference between these types is that street con artists will typically take on any victim who is willing while confidence tricksters tend not to take on new victims even if they find one that’s vulnerable or easy enough.
